Situated 2 miles north of Dumbarton and directly across the Leven from Renton, Strathleven House was built in the late 17th Century in the vicinity of the home of the Flemings, guardians of Robert the Bruce's son David, and 50 yards from the site of the historic Bruce Oak.
The present house was renovated between 1993 and 2001 by Scottish Historic Buildings Trust and now provides office accommodation for a number of organisations and businesses.
Saturday 17th September was 'Doors Open Day' and Strathleven Artizans were invited to take part in greeting visitors and providing an exhibition of Bruce artefacts. In what proved to be a successful event, almost 200 visitors learned something of the area's connection with The Bruce.
