19-06-2011 SCRIBBLERS PICNIC

Sunday 19th June 2011 was the 10th anniversary of the Scribblers Picnic held within the grounds of Stirling rugby club, this fantastic event which raises money for 5 major cancer charities i.e CHAS, MacMillan, Marie Curie, Strathcarron Hospice and the Maggie cancer caring centres.
The Sribblers picnic is a one day music festival and is well supported by the people of Stirling and surrounding areas, it is organised and run by our fellow bowman Ted Christopher along with Roadshow Music and vast army of volunteers and helpers too many to mention, they all do their part in making this a wonderful well run event.
With 6 different music stages of various types of groups there was something for everyone, you could visit the Main stage, random rhythms rock stage, Folk stage, the roxjam stage, dance live uk and the Tolbooth stage there was a bit of everything to cater for all tastes in music.
The sounds of bagpipes could be heard from the Highland dancing stage, among the other stalls included the Army, the Keltic wings Honda trike club, various charity stalls, bouncy castles and of course the Fubar beer tent.

The weather was overcast but the rain did hold off till about 3.00pm when the heavens opened and it poured down for about 45 mintues or so but it did not damping the spirits of the poeple who came along and had a ball.
The focal point of the main stage that had a large gathering as the fabulouse acts appeared one after the other.
Appearing for the first time was Benny Gallagher (of Gallagher and Lyle) who played a great set which was enjoyed by the large crowd.
We had a lot of different acts on which included Trossachs ceilidh band, Gamu, Bury the hobbit, Double trouble, Yet another Tonto, Ted Christopher and even Johnny Lee Menphis- Absolute Elvis to name but a few,
the bands just kept on coming.
The standard of groups was first class and Scotland has a great many young musicans coming through and it great to see them get better every year.

Strathleven Artizans and the 40 Bowmen were out in force on Sunday which was great to see, we had about 19 or 20 bowmen present and all did their bit in making it a successful day out.
We also had 5 of our guys along with our friend Sarah Chrome who came up from England to attend the march from Gillies Hill to Bannockburn head off to represent the Artizans on the march.
The march was led off by our very own KRB, along with his Queen, William Wallace, Randolph, Mary Bruce and the Countess of Buchan.
Meanwhile back at the picnic our marquee had a steady stream of visitors which kept the ladies busy.
This was the 4th year in a row that we have attended this fab event and it just gets better and better and it's well supported by both the musicans and local people as well and hope they all had as good a day out as the Artizans did.

I would like to thank ALL the Artizans/Bowmen who came along and helped and supported us as well as Bowman Ted Christopher, there are too many to mention but you know who you are !!!
A Big thank you to Ted, Roadshow Music and all the guys who did all the work behind the scences in making this brilliant event one of the highlight of the Artizans year.
Here's to the next 10 years.....................!!!
Well done One And ALL.
