The Strathleven Artizans furthered their horizon outside Renton when they travelled to LevenVale School in Alexandria for a visit to a very special class.
Theses primary school kids had already being learning about the battle of Bannockburn and all things knightly when The Strathleven Artizans surprised them by walking into their classroom. The artist boys and girls had painted knights in armour and their work was hanging on the wall for all to see. To see the kid’s faces as we walked in was fantastic.

 The Artizans were very impressed with the children’s knowledge as time and time again great questions were fired our way. What the children already knew about the medieval times and weapons was incredible and they really new what they were talking about so we had to be on our toes. The day began with a history of the local area from seven hundred years ago and then there was a question and answer session, which was great fun for all. Later the primary school kids tried on the knight’s helmets and chainmail and enjoyed holding the old weapons of long gone by.

A questionnaire about King Robert the Bruce was handed out to the children and we hope they enjoy it and learn more about their past. Photographs were taken by the schoolteachers and hopefully we will see them soon. The kids were then informed about the Robert the Bruce Heritage Centre in Renton and hopefully they will pop along with their class or parents and friends and experience it for themselves, and of course they will be made more than welcome when they visit. We look forward in seeing them all. You were all a credit to your school , well done.

The Strathleven Artizans would like to thank the children of LevenyVale Primary for being very very well behaved and in making our visit a very pleasant one, we also had a great day and it was fantastic in seeing the children filled with enthusiasm.
