Saltire Society
Lunch
Edinburgh
Strathleven Artizans first engagement for 2011 was on Saturday January 8th at 12.30pm in the Royal Overseas League at 100 Princes Street in Edinburgh with a talk at The Saltire Society, Edinburgh Branch lunch on Celebrating The Bruce.
The 4 members who attended included Duncan Thomson, Paul Hunter, Chris Pollock and Jim Tannock who were dressed in their medieval chainmail, received a very warm welcome from the members of The Saltire Society, we were there at the kind invitation of John Yellowlees Secretary of the Edinburgh Branch.
After a lovely lunch, around 50 members of the Saltire Society listened intently as Duncan, Paul and Chris gave a talk and a power point presentation to the assembled group about King Robert the Bruce and the Royal connections to Renton and Strathleven.
The talk was to be 45 minutes but we talked for around 1 hour and 20 minutes with questions and answers at the end.
All the members enjoyed our talk and a few stayed back to inquire more about KRB and the Artizans with particular questions on the Robert the Bruce Heritage Centre at Renton station, we have had a few emails from some of the members with offers of help and support which is great and very much welcomed.
We left the Royal Overseas League at 3.50pm and made our way back along a very snowy M8 back to Renton.
We would like to Thank the Saltire Society and John Yellowlees for a very enjoyable lunch and for having us through to give our talk.
Thanks to the members of Strathleven Artizans who attended you know who you are.
Yours Jim Tannock.
