Hello Strathleven Artizans. It’s Big Dean, Maria & Friends from Spain, we hope you all doing just fine!
This year the Feria Internacional de los Pueblos (FIB) was held from 28th April until 2th of May, like years earlier, the caseta of Scotland was again part of it. This year there were some newcomers on the FIB, countries like: Hawai, Bulgaria and Thailand.
After our Teba adventure we couldn’t wait to get our kilt out the closet, this time with my great new kilt that I got from my big friend Duncan. By the way Duncan, i watched the video put kilt on in 30 seconds… i took me 3 hours to find out hahahaha. I am going to need some expert lessons in Teba 2010. This year we went to the feria with Diego and Maria Angeles after hearing about our great Teba adventure they were so fascinated, Diego bought his own scottish kilt on a scottish online shop. We painted our faces like warriors going into battle… Ana and Jesús, our friends who joined us in Teba couldn’t be present at the FIB, because something important and urgent came up. So, Everything was prepared: So 2 new kilts, 2 beautifull girls and a international feria waiting for us.
Everything looked so perfect.
…One thing was different, once we entered fairground, we heard Swedish, Japanese, Spanish folk music… Something was wrong, different, not right, Where was Phillip, The Kings Piper ? My favourite Highland Cathedral tune wasn’t playing.
Where were those fabulous hard tribal drums ?.....No gorgeous girls… dancing the highland fling ? And last but not least, Where were My dear big friends the Artizans ? …. We had a feeling, this year could not be the same…
We went for a walk round the feria, there where many people because the day after (1th of may) is a spanish national holliday. We had to pose for many camara’s hahaha. So finaly we reached the Scottish Caseta to go say hi, but no Artizans at the door of the caseta where we met them 2 years ago. We went in to say hello to Leslie and company. At first sight the caseta had lost some of his charms. Later on that evening Leslie played some tunes on the bagpipes and a girl danced to his tunes. At night time Dex gave a nice concert. The scottish caseta wasn’t bad at all, just diferent without the Artizans. In Fuengirola this year, a wedding store added a buy and rent kilt shop, they were present at the caseta for some hours the day. In my opinión they have nice kilts and jackets but it doesn’t fullfill the charms a scottish caseta needs.
So our journey went on, we went the whole night walking around on the feria, having some food & drinks, people approached us to take pictures and have a talk. Once after midnight we were exhausted and Diego and Maria Angeles still had to drive 45 min to Málaga. This year we couldn’t join the parade, due the exams, but anyway it wouldn’t be the same without Duncan, Jim and JP.
To resume we missed you this year, hope to see you all very soon. Just to remind, Phillip you own me a Highland Cathedral, The girls some dancing, and the band some drum sounds JJJ. Duncan !, when we where exhausted and walking around in the late hours, Maria, said something that I never expected… she says: Dean, You know what I miss the most this year ? … No…....... Duncan’s YIHAAAAAAAA sound between songs hahaha So cuteee
This is not goodbye! Teba is waiting for us…
Take all good care!
