18-07-2009 BATTLE OF FALKIRK COMMEMORATION

                                           FIRE AND WATER

A baptism of water welcomed this years marchers to the Falkirk memorial walk through a packed holiday period in Falkirk town. Together the combined groups and representatives joined forces once again making their way to the memorial cairn. As the rain fell out the sky a very subdued crowd, shaded under magnificent huge oak trees listened to the past exploits of another Scottish patriot hero…Sir William Wallace. As each group gave out a rendition of our countries struggle, wreaths were layed upon the ground at the cairn in homage to all the fallen who sacrificed their life’s in the hope of a free Scotland. As usual the Stathleven Artizans represented King Robert the Bruce dressed in full medieval garb and again were the guard of honour in creating a protecting circle around the cairn throughout the raising and lowering of the standard and during the speeches through the ceremony. A big thank you goes out to all Bowmen/women for their attendance in making it along to east side of the country in celebrating an important part of our history, for their steadfast approach and standing firm and tall in the biggest downpour of the week.

Next stop…The Home Coming
