A beautiful day welcomed the patriots who gathered at Johnstone for our annual
march to Elderslie to commemorate William Wallace. Duncan Fenton welcomed a
large crowd then the wreath was laid by Anne Ballentyne. Rousing speeches were
then given by Ted Christopher, William Ballentyne and Sarah Chrome with William
giving us a rendition of a wonderful poem he wrote. Me and Gordon were then asked
to sing a song that I had recently written called "Under the Saltire".
The Artizans were
represented by Gordon Alex Fiona Malcie Mike and myself. After the speeches
Gordon Alex Fiona and myself had a wee singsong in the Village Hall bar whilst the
hall was getting ready for the evening's entertainment. And what a night it turned out
to be. Scocha, Albannach and Ted Christopher were superb and had everyone dancing
and singing along.
All in all a wonderful day in the company of wonderful friends.
