Philip Graeme Lawson Barlow
“The King’s Piper”

Philip has been the King’s Piper since the establishment of the Strathleven Artizans in March 2006 where he piped all members and guests into our inaugural Bruce Banquet Dinner. From this night on we officially started our amazing journey which has taken us all over Scotland, Spain and as far afield as the USA.

Whilst living in Dumbarton Philip spent 4 years studying as an undergraduate Optometrist. He then moved to Aberdeen where he completed his professional qualification (MCOptom) in2007, Philip has just recently graduated with a Masters with distinction from Starthclyde Business School (MSc in Business Management) and is currently working in the Glasgow area as an Optometrist.

Philip is a first class piper who has played all over the world and along with his brother David, who plays the drums have both lead Strathleven Artizans on many trips abroad from Teba and  Fuengirola in Spain to New York City. It was during Scottish Week celebrations in New York were Philip piped at the Kirking of the Tartan in Manhattan in April 2008. Another of the highlights from last year (2008) was piping at Broomhall for Lord Elgin (our Patron) and his guests at his Charity Dinner. This was a successful fundraising night that Lord and Lady Elgin run each year.

Philip has piped at many weddings and was recently accompanied by the Celtic Storm dancers in Edinburgh. Most recently he and some members of the Strathleven Artizans (40 Bowmen of St. Sebastian’s) staged a guard of honour (a first for us as guards) at Rennie Macintosh’s House for an Art Lover in Glasgow. This was a memorable day for the wedding guests and especially the bride and groom as they were piped into the gardens with full military honours for their wedding photos.

If you require any Piping services for occasions such as wedding, corporate dinners, private functions then Philip can be contacted via our website or on 07985501911.

Dancers and Guard of Honour are also available by emailing through our website.

A big Thank you to the King’s Piper for his continued support and dedication.
