During the construction of the new Falkirk Cairn in Callender Park in 2007 the lads that where building it said that they wished to put a time capsule inside the cairn and Strathleven Artizans had the very thing for them, we had an old sherry/port barrel laying around so we donated the barrel to the cairn project.
We had the barrel covered with lead to help protect it until such time as it is opened, hopefully not for a good thousand years or so, the people who had taken part in the construction of the cairn and I believe some local school children had the opportunity to leave letters, records of families, photos etc in the capsule and maybe some of those letters will reach future generations of the people who left them, how amazing would that be.
The accompanying photos are a build up to and during the construction of the cairn, it was a great honour for the Artizans to have a small (but important part) in the Cairn and would like to congratulate Gordon, Grant, Karen and Stuart and all the others who helped out so well done one and all.
