27/28-08-2011 BRUCE FESTIVAL DUNFERMLINE

Strathleven Artizans were delighted once again to be part of this year Bruce festival held in the magnificent Pittencrieff park, now in its 7th year this event has grown to become one of the premier historical events to honour Scotland Greatest Hero King, "King Robert the Bruce".

A medieval village and camp is setup within sight of KRB final resting place in the majestic Dunfermline Abbey which dominates Pittencrieff park and indeed the whole town of Dunermline.

This fabulous event which is free to enter has been growing in stature, it just keeps getting better and better, with live re-enactments from the wonderful ClanRanald Trust of Scotland who had the kids and adults taking part in some medieval warfare which always a favorite with the gathered crowds along with battle re-enactments, they also had their very own medieval village bringing to life how it would have been back in the time 700 years ago.

We had Les Amis D'Onno an equestrian display team who originate from France but are now based in the Borders perform their very own unique display with jousting and horsemanship etc.

The Scottish Lime Centre was there once again this year exhibiting their excellent stone work and medieval masonery were folk could try their hands at some carving and letter cutting etc, a very popular tent with the general public.

We had for the first time a Food village under the guidence of Fife's very own food ambassador Mr Christopher Trotter were you could taste food that would have been eaten 700 yeas ago along with more traditional food like Arbroath Smokies, buffalo burgers, hog roast also available.

Later on in the evening there was a Medieval banquet "A Feast for a King" run br Christopher Trotter which was well attended and a great way to spend an evening just like back in KRB time.

Also this year they had The abbey concerts, "Gamta" Glasgow academy musical theatre arts, Blueparrot
productions, A Legendary walk throught time, story telling, arts and crafts, Celebratory ceiliedh

This year the weather was fantastic on the Saturday but a blit blustery and cool on the Sunday.

Strathleven Artizans Patron Lord Elgin is quoted as say..............."Dunfermline is a marvellous setting for the festival and we're pleased to welcome visitors from all over Scotland and further afield" Says it all am sure you will agree.

A big thanks to all the Artizans who attended the number one event in Scotland you know who you are !!
See you again next year....................................!!!!
