Duncan Thomson and Elspeth Crocket represented the Artizans at the annual charity dinner in the home of our patrons, the Earl and Countess of Elgin, on Friday 7th October. Lord Elgin, a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, hosts this function at Broomhall, near Dunfermline, to raise funds for the Abbot House Museum in Dunfermline.
The Artizans were happy to donate a magnificent quaich, crafted from the 700 year old Bruce Oak by Charlie Anderson. This wonderful artefact was much admired and raised in excess of £400 in the auction which followed the wonderful dinner which was provided by catering students from Dunfermline College.
Friends of the Artizans donated many other beautiful objects for the auction. These included a replica of The Bruce's sword by Paul McDonald of McDonald Armories, which raised over £1000, and a jewelled kilt pin designed and manufactured by Sheila Fleet of Orkney.
The evening allowed an opportunity to spread the word on the work of Strathleven Artizans and to share plans for the celebrations in 2014.
A great night and a worthy cause.
