STRATHLEVEN ARTIZANS BARBECUE 2009

FUNDS UNDER CARING KNIGHTS
LONGSHANKS DAY 2009

The annual Longshanks celebration day was blown into contention with a wet and windy front supplying our heroes with a cold shower before lunch. As the pavilion and lady’s tents were being assembled, our entourage neared the BBQ spot at the point of Dalquhurn. A site well waited for arrived in all its splendour, gracing these lands with an ancient and rare site of our dear Lord King Robert the Bruce with his Royal officers and flag bearers walking on his former Lennox lands.
A blistering performance from our chef Big Graham filled the hungry troops and follower’s bellies with meat galore adorned with salad and washed down with whatever ails you. For certain individuals there was whatever ailing all right.
Our special guests at this gala day were Malcolm, Malcolm junior, Eddie (Faither), John, Charlie, Kate, Celtic Storm, JP, Frank, Frank junior, Lynn, Gordon and Karen, Dave Murdoch and Christine, Brenda, guest speaker wee Selina, Duncan, Jim and Paul and Susan and wee grand wean Abbygail.
Big thanks to our musical entertainers Kate and Gordon for keeping us entertained throughout the day with they’re songs sung in their own distinct styles.
Food in abundance was back for the final round and washed down with that old favourite ‘the midgie mouthwash.’ Word got out about the great evening we were having… that the midgies left the bleeding wilderbeasts behind and headed for the Artizan tent instead.
A great day was finished off with the sun fleeing from the clouds and splitting the sky, bringing a successful sunny evening Longshanks day to a close.
Well done everyone and thankyou to the many passers by who popped in for a wee chat.
Cheers all.
