In June 2008, at the anniversary parade to the Battlefield of Bannockburn, the Strathleven Artizans, Duncan Thomson, Jim Tannock, Paul Hunter, John Patterson, Our Liz, Glen Lindsay and friend, joined thousands of other patriots in commemorating the battle and victory for King Robert The Bruce and the community of the realm against the English. The parade from the back of Gunhill was a joyous and happy event led by Nicola Sturgeon MSP. On reaching the battle field the Knights Templers had already laid wreaths to those Templers whom had lost their life at the battle of Bannockburn.
Nicola Sturgeon MSP laid a beautiful blue and white arrangement of flowers in the shape of a Saltire. She was then invited to give a speech on behalf of the Scottish Nationalist Party. Duncan, again, ran into Christina McKelvie who asked if they were going to listen to the speeches. After the speeches, Duncan invited Christina for a coffee in the Bannockburn centre, where we met Scott, the new centre manager. We were given a tour of the building which was fantastic and were told about the new plans that he had for the future.
