ANCIENT FINDS AT PILLONFLATTS

These ancient finds were found during a random field walk on the former lands belonging to King Robert the Bruce at PillonFlatts in modern day Renton by one of our own Artizans. There were various dwellings on this site such as a Manor house belonging to the great King and living quarters for his closest friends and companions and his bodyguard elite…The 40 Bowmen of St.Sebastian, and not to mention his pet lion, hawks, his ship and his staff.

After this, the next step was an appointment with an archaeologist at the Glasgow Kelvingrove Museum. The term ‘medieval’ was mentioned and so all the chosen artefacts were photographed and forwarded to Edinburgh for further checks by specialists. We wait with excitement and intrigue for the results (watch this space).

Please feel free to step into the past and visit the Strathleven Artizans, to view our other artefacts, which are currently on show or even just to have a chat about life in Renton, before or modern.

If anyone has any interesting finds of their own, especially from the surrounding area. Then please pop in to see us with your finds (have a cuppa) and we’ll try and help you find an answer to what they are.

We look forward to seeing you.

Paul Hunter. Strathleven Artizans.
