23-03-2011 SCOTRAIL ADOPTERS LUNCH

Scotrail held their third annual lunch for Gardening Adopters at their Stations, in the All In One Bar in St Vincent St Glasgow.

John Yellowlees of Scotrail welcomed all the guests and thanked us all for making it to the lunch.

This was a great opportunity to mingle and network with other stations within the project. Representatives came from all over Scotland to attend the lunch and listen to the speech from Jenny Mollinson (allotments correspondant from the Scotsman newspaper). Her talk was over vegetable plants that flower nearly the whole of the year and are very pretty, an idea for the stations that deal with flowering plants.

Then we had a speech from Matthew Alexander a lecturer of Business Studies at Strathclyde University. Who is embarking on a thesis about the adopted stations, and how the local community and passengers of the railways rate their importance. He will be travelling to as many of these stations as possible in the coming months to hear how and why we have all set up the stations.

Strathleven Artizans were represented by David & Christine Murdoch.
